Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging

Washoe County supports the belief that the outdoor environment is a place for everyone. With increasing trail use, we acknowledge the need to instill an inclusive environment for people of all abilities, race, beliefs and orientations. Washoe County strives for the unification of our various user groups; as well as supports access to the out-of-doors to those who have been marginalized and discriminated against. We support the exploration of public lands and programs that provide opportunities for all.

Washoe County believes that our trails are common ground. We are committed to creating a system that can support every person having an excellent experience. Because of this, we endorse the Trails are Common Ground coalition in their initiative to create outdoors spaces that are equitable, enjoyable and inclusive. Please visit trails are common ground to learn more about what it means and to get involved.
