Meet the new Washoe County Manager: Eric Brown

SHLB004.jpgA new County Manager is taking the helm of our vast organization at the end of this month.  Eric Brown will assume the top spot for the second largest county in Nevada beginning November 25, leading the county’s 2,700 employees and continuing the Board of Commission’s mission of working together regionally to provide and sustain a safe, secure and healthy community.

Most recently, Brown served as the President of California Telehealth Network, which provides broadband connections and other health IT services to hospitals and clinics in rural and medically underserved communities. With more than 500 sites, the California Telehealth Network is one of the largest statewide telehealth networks in the nation.   “I look forward to building on my 20 years of serving in leadership positions in a variety of organizational settings, which included working relationships with multiple government and private business entities." said Brown. “I also look forward to working with our Board of Commissioners and serving the citizens of Washoe County.”

Earlier this month, Brown facilitated the keynote discussion during the Schools, Health and Libraries (SHLB) Coalition’s Annual Meeting in Washington D.C.  The conference focused on FCC efforts to expand broadband access for rural and underserved communities.   SHLB143.jpgPictured (left to right) Eric Brown, FCC Commissioner Geoffrey Starks, SHLB Executive Director John Windhausen, and Former Head of the National Telecommunications Infrastructure Association (NTIA) Larry Irving.
