Experience the Great Outdoors through Trails

iStock-1069800940.jpgIt’s summertime!  During this time of uncertainly, most of us have felt confined to indoors and at times anxious to get outside into open spaces.  With the warm weather and lack of special events in our region, now more than ever, offers a time to explore the great outdoors.  It's the perfect time to discover new or reconnect with our beautiful Washoe County parks and open trails. There are a multitude of options available ranging casual nature trails on a paved path to rugged wilderness trails for the seasoned hiker; all throughout northern Nevada. Consider participating in the Truckee Meadows Trails Challenge.  Commissioner Kitty Jung has been an avid supporter of the Trails Challenge, having dedicated a portion of her Special District Funds to the program for several years.  It’s a goal-oriented, self-guided program for exploring trails throughout Washoe County. Participants choose how many miles they want to hike and receive a trail guide and log to document their hiking adventures. The Trails Challenge includes three seasonal subscription packages throughout the year to help get you on the trails. Each month, the Parks Foundation leads an interpretive hike that focuses on the natural and cultural history of the area.

Take the challenge and sign up today as spots are limited! You can learn more and register for the Trails Challenge here.
